What’s in a Name

The eye-catching name and label express Oxer’s love for Shakespeare. “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (Shame be to him who thinks evil of it) comes from the play “The Reign of King Edward the Third”.

60% Viura, 10% Calagraño and remaining 30% Torrontés, Malvasía, Maturana Blanca and Garnacha Blanca

Vineyard

Very old Rioja Alavesa vineyards in Laguardia and Elvillar at 600 metres above sea level, on soils with a high calcium carbonate content, fine and porous clays with high potential. And from old vineyards in Rioja Alta, in the Camprovin area, very fine clay-ferrous soils. Yields of around 3,000 kg per hectare.

Winemaking

Direct pressing of the whole bunch, alcoholic fermentation with autochthonous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, previously seeking hyperoxidation when pressing. Then, the wine is transferred to used 600L French oak barrels where the fermentation ends, including malolactic, and where it will remain for 7 months before being bottled.
