Tasting note from Ferran Centelles MW for Jancis Robinson MW – Score 17.5

98% Tempranillo, 2% Garnacha. Vineyards planted at 525 m above sea level in Uruñuela. Hand-harvested. Manual destemming and no crushing. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel vats. Light macerations. Malolactic conversion in oak barrels. Aged in French oak barrels for 11 months.
Tasted blind. Sínodo has been one of the discoveries of the year. This wine is all pleasure and voluptuousness. Sweet black fruit, violets and great concentration of flavour. The fruit is very savoury. I like the combination of freshness and concentration. Compact and very good. It ends with attractive truffle aromas and a very positive note of leathery reduction. I recommend decanting it! I hope you can taste one of the fewer than 700 bottles of this marvellous wine. (FC). Drink 2021–2035

Sínodo’s brilliant Viñedo Singular blend of Tempranillo and 1% Garnacha comes from a 1916 parcel in Uruñuela close to Cenicero. Aged in new and third-use French barrels, it’s a scented, complex, polished red from these three young oenologists, with silky, graceful tannins, bramble and blackberry fruit and wonderful freshness and palate length. 2024-35
